兵庫県立芸術文化センター（ひょうごけんりつげいじゅつぶんかせんたー）は、大・中・小の３つのホールを備える、 音楽、演劇、バレエなどのバラエティーに富んだ舞台芸術を通して多くの人々が集い、 交流する芸術の広場です。西宮のシンボルとも呼べるような美しい外観をしています。西宮北口駅から近く、雨にも濡れずに入場できます。センター前のスベースは高松公園という公園になっており、休憩場所や屋外ランチの憩いの場として利用されています。
薄井憲二バレエ・コレクションの総数は約6,500点にのぼり、個人が収集したものとしては世界でも有数の規模を誇っています。1930年代から収集されたこのコレクションは、バレエの始まりから現代までを広くカバーするバレエ史上きわめて貴重なコレクションといえます。 コレクションは大きく4つのテーマを柱としています。バレエの黄金期である《ロマンティック・バレエ》、《ロシアのバレエ》、現代バレエの礎ともいえる《バレエ・リュス》とそれに続く《バレエ・リュス・ド・モンテカルロ》の時代です。 コレクションの中には、ダンサーたちの自筆の手紙やメモといったまさに世界で唯一のものから、当時の劇場の息づかいを伝える豪華、時にシンプルな装丁で、資料性の非常に高い公演当日の公式プログラム、美術的価値も高く目にも鮮やかなリトグラフや絵画、ポスターなどが数多く含まれ、書籍、雑誌といった文献資料は2000冊を超えています。 兵庫県立芸術文化センターでは常設展と企画展という形で年間を通じてコレクションをご覧いただける機会を設けています。
